iPhone 15 customers forced to buy accessories
According to a video shared by YouTuber Nabeel Nawab on X, the Unicorn store at Inorbit Mall in Mumbai is making customers buy iPhone 15 accessories. Customers are reportedly being told that it is mandatory to purchase accessories such as a screen guard that costs Rs 4,000 screen guard. This is however, only for customers who are purchasing the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max according to the video.
The YouTuber confirmed this by asking one of the store’s staff who said that it is compulsory to purchase the accessories. He also showed a bill of his purchase where the accessory worth Rs 4,000 is also included in it. The store is also reportedly cancelling preorders of customers who refuse to pay for the accessories. It is instead selling the iPhone 15 Pro models to dealers and anyone who’s willing to pay the additional charges.
The store apparently added the cost of the screen guard without informing the customer saying that it is part of the iPhone’s total cost. There isn’t any such clause from Apple on having to purchase accessories with a new iPhone. These are optional and customers can choose to add them to their cart along with the iPhone.
It isn’t clear if Apple is aware of what’s going on at Unicorn, and if this is allowed for the reseller. For those who want to avoid this can opt for other resellers or go to the Apple Store in Mumbai. The iPhone 15 series can also be purchased from Apple’s online store directly.
