Apple launches Type-C charger for its Watch series

The Magnetic Charger to USB-C Cable works with all Watch models including Apple Watch Series 3, Series 2, and Series 1 and the newly launched Series 4.

Apple has finally launched a Type-C charger for its Watch series. Called Apple Watch Magnetic Charger to USB-C Cable, the charger is listed on the Apple website for $29, same price as the bundled Type-A connector. Available in the US for now, the charger comes with a 0.3-metre cable which gets attached to the watch via a magnet, similar to the one earlier. The short cable length is a shame but you would expect Apple to launch 1 or 2-meter cable extenders soon. This will also allow users to charge their Watch using their laptop (considering they are evolved enough).

According to the listing on the US Apple Store, the Magnetic Charger to USB-C Cable works with all Watch models, including Apple Watch Series 3, Series 2, and Series 1 and the newly launched Series 4. The latest version of Apple Watch launched in India recently alongside the iPhone XR for a starting price of Rs, 40,900. In addition to the online listing, the new charger will also start selling in offline US stores starting today. There’s no information regarding it India launch or pricing.

Apple is expected to release a new iPad Pro at the end of this month during its Brooklyn event. It is rumoured to come with USB-C port rather than Lightning, which means that if true, you’ll be able to charge your Watch using your iPad.
