Apple Watch Series 4 pre-orders kick off in India, prices start at Rs 40,900

Last month, Apple unveiled its latest Watch Series 4 smartwatch. Now, the company has started taking pre-orders for the wearable in India. The smartwatches are up for pre-orders on Flipkart and in Apple-authorised retail stores across the country. The Apple Watch Series 4 price in India starts at Rs 40,900 for the GPS-only 40mm variant, while the 44mm model costs Rs 43,900. The smartwatch’s 40mm and 44mm GPS + Cellular connectivity variant is being offered at the starting prices of Rs 49,900 and Rs 52,900, respectively. The wearable will start shipping from October 19th.

To recap on the specs, the Apple Watch Series 4 sports a larger 1.78-inch 3D Touch edge-to-edge screen, a built-in ECG scanner, haptic feedback, and a new digital crown. The device is capable of performing an ECG and detect atrial fibrillation, apart from detecting the user’s heart rate. The accessory gets a next-gen accelerometer and gyroscope, which can detect up to 32 g-forces. The wearable is capable of automatically calling emergency services in case the wearer takes a fall and is immobilised for more than a minute by analysing wrist trajectory and impact acceleration.

Moving on to the other features, the new Apple Watch sports haptic feedback in the Digital Crown. The device features a 50 percent louder speaker which is optimised for calls, Siri assistant, and the new Walkie-Talkie feature. The wearable is packed with the next-gen dual-core S4 chipset, which is said to offer twice the performance while maintaining the same all-day battery life as compared to its predecessor.

Software-wise, the Apple Watch Series 4 sports the new watchOS UI, which has a new watch face and eight complications. Lastly, the devices promises to deliver up to 18 hours of mixed usage off a single charge.
