“The Watch Series 4 offers an edge-to-edge display and built-in ECG scanner”
The Watch Series 4 smartwatch is the latest iteration from Apple, announced a couple of days back. At the time of launch in Steve Jobs theatre, California, the brand did not disclose the India pricing of the product. However, as per a report by Gadgets 360, the Watch Series 4 will set you back to Rs 40,900 for the base 40mm GPS-only variant, while the top-end 44mm GPS-cellular edition will cost Rs 52,900.
There are two more models of the watch — the 44mm GPS and 40mm GPS+cellular, which will cost Rs Rs 43,900 and Rs 49,900 respectively. All the variants will go for sale in the country starting September 21st with pre-bookings starting from September 14th.
Here’s a recap of the specifications: the Watch Series 4 — successor to the Watch Series 3 — sports 30 percent more screen space, thanks to reduced bezels. It’s powered by the latest S4 chip with a custom 64-bit dual-core processor. The smartwatch is fitted with ECG that can detect the user’s heart rate and automatically call emergency for you when the beats are too low. Other features include new watchOS with more watch faces, digital crown with haptic feedback, microphone, Siri assistant, and 50 percent louder speakers.
On the battery front, the Watch Series 4 is said to offer the same all-day battery backup as its predecessor. Apart from the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, the watch also detects the wearer’s fall by analysing wrist trajectory and impact acceleration. If there’s no activity for a minute after alerting, the Series 4 will automatically send signals to emergency services and contacts.
