ASUS 5G phone could have dual slider design, renders suggest

“The ASUS 5G render shows the handset could have a slider that houses the selfie cameras on the top and Harman Kardon speakers at the bottom”

Amidst the ASUS ZenFone 6Z smartphone leaks and rumours, renders and real-world images of the alleged 5G smartphone from the brand have surfaced. As per the images, the ASUS handset with next-gen cellular connectivity could come in two variants. Its edge-to-edge display and a slider design may remind you of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2 smartphone. Moreover, the ASUS 5G phone device will reportedly be camera-focused, with dual rear cameras both on the front for selfies and video calling, and back.

Looking at the renders (above), the ASUS 5G smartphone will boast of glass sandwich design and ‘dual slider’ design. The latter seems to be inspired by the iconic Nokia N95 smartphone, which had multi-media buttons up top and keypad down below the display. The ASUS handset, meanwhile, is tipped to front cameras on the back plate of the phone and speakers fine-tuned by Harmon Kardon below. To access them, the user will have to slide the display either up or down. It’ll be interesting to see this design in real life.

The same image reveals dual selfie cameras with ‘120-degree wide angle’ text etched in between. A render of the phone reveals it’ll have HDR mode, portrait mode, autofocus, timer, and LED flash. The rear panel of the device also seems to feature dual cameras horizontally-aligned with LED flash. Other details include USB Type-C port for charging and a volume rocker and power button on the right edge.

Apparently, another set of images of the ASUS 5G smartphone reveal somewhat similar design with few changes. First, the overall design has slightly squarish edges instead of rounded edges and the bottom back panel of the device is reported to offer touch controls depending on the app. The camera app, for instance (and as shown in the images), will provide additional exposure compensation and zoom controls. Second, the dual-selfie camera setup is slightly different and seems to be accompanied by dual LED flash units.

Although the leak comes from reliable tipster @evleaks with an excellent track record, we’d advise you to take it with a pinch of salt, at least till some live image leaks confirm the design.
