ASUS 8z (ASUS Zenfone 8 globally) launch date in India has been finally revealed after the company laid low for months. The handset originally debuted back in May 2021 as a successor to the 7 series and comes with top-of-the-line specifications. The handset will launch in the country on February 28th at 12 PM IST and the event should be live-streamed on the ASUS YouTube channel. It was supposed to be unveiled in India last year but the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain constraints seemed to have pushed the launch. As we are gearing up to see phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets in India, it remains to be seen whether there will any takers for the ASUS 8z in the country.

ASUS 8z specifications

ASUS 8z sports a 5.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with HDR10, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1100nits brightness, 20:9 aspect ratio, and Gorilla Glass Victus. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC.

The phone is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, a 4000mAh battery with 30W fast charging and there’s support for quick charge 4.

Moving to optics, the handset features a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens that supports macro mode, dual PD autofocus, and f/2.2 aperture. It has a 12MP Sony IMX663 selfie snapper on the front with dual PD autofocus. The phone runs on Android 11 based ZenUI 8 custom skin on top and packs up to 16GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage that is further expandable.

The ASUS 8z is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC paired with Adreno 660 GPU. It comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, dual Cirrus Logic CS35L45 amplifier, Dirac HD sound, Hi-Res Audio, Triple microphones with OZO Audio Zoom & ASUS Noise Reduction Technology, and FM Radio.
