ASUS ROG Phone 2 launch reportedly set for July 23rd in China

“The ASUS ROG Phone 2 is expected to come with Snapdragon 855, up to 12GB RAM and dedicated cooling system”

ASUS unveiled the gaming-centric ROG Phone back in June 2018, and now the company is gearing up to launch the successor. The brand had already announced a partnership with Tencent Games and Chinese fighting game “Under the One Man” for the ROG Phone 2, so it likely to come with dedicated features and in-depth optimisation. Now, DigiTimes reports that ASUS will be launching the flagship at an event in Beijing, China on July 23rd. It is also said to come in two models, with the base model having a price tag of RMB 4,399 (around Rs 44,300).

Furthermore, the Taiwanese phone maker is expected to showcase the phone at the ChinaJoy 2019 expo in Shanghai, which is scheduled for August 1st. In a recent Weibo post, ASUS announced that the ROG Phone 2 would feature a 120Hz refresh rate, which is a massive improvement over the 90Hz on the original ROG phone. It also said that more games would be optimised for the 120Hz refresh rate to make sure that the handset’s true potential is fully realised. Though the details of the specifications are scarce at the moment, it is believed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SOC, paired with up to 12GB RAM. It is expected to come with an improved cooling system and a glowing ASUS logo at the back.

It is also possible there might be optional gaming accessories, just like its predecessor. The original ROG Phone came with a multi-layer cooling system with a cooling pad, copper heat spreader, and a 3D vapour chamber. It also features a front-firing quad-speaker system and two physical trigger keys. Since everything is based on rumours, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt until an official announcement is made.
