ASUS ROG Phone 2 (review) is back on sale in India via Flipkart with an increased price tag of Rs 39,999 for the base 8GB RAM variant. The handset was out of stock in the country since February due to coronavirus outbreak. The vendor has now announced ROG Phone 2’s availability in the country, with a Rs 2,000 price hike from its previous MOP of Rs 37,999. It could have been Rs 4,555, owing to the new 18 percent GST rate on mobile phones, but ASUS claims that it is absorbing Rs 2,555 price increase to keep the price of the ROG Phone 2 under Rs 40,000. There is no update regarding the phone’s 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant that was launched at Rs 59,999 back in December.
“Owing to the success that we have witnessed and in-spite of the current adverse changes in the business environment, we have decided to absorb Rs 2,555 cost increase on ROG Phone II and not pass the additional cost to our Fans,” Dinesh Sharma Business Head Mobiles ASUS India.
