“The ROG Phone 2 will arrive with a Snapdragon 855+ processor, and it could be launched on July 23rd”
ASUS ROG Phone 2 gaming smartphone seems to have appeared on the benchmarking website Geekbench. The handset has been benchmarked under the model number ASUS_I001DC. The ASUS ROG Phone 2 was earlier certified by China’s 3C and Wi-Fi Alliance regulatory authorities with a similar model number. Notably, the device has been benchmarked by Geekbench soon after some hands-on images of the handset surfaced on the interwebs and the company officially announced that the ASUS ROG Phone 2 will utilise a Snapdragon 855+ processor. The benchmark has revealed the processor, Android version, and RAM of the smartphone, which hint that it could be the most powerful Android phone to date.
The ASUS ROG Phone 2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that will have a clock speed of 1.78GHz. The company has confirmed the handset will use the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. As per the Geekbench, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 could come with a massive 12GB of RAM. There could also be an 8GB RAM model of the smartphone. Lastly, the benchmark has revealed that the handset will boot Android 9 Pie out of the box. It has a multi-core score of 11,103, which is higher than Xiaomi Black Shark 2’s multi-core score of 10,771 that’s the most powerful phone today with a Snapdragon 855 processor.
The recently leaked live photos of the phone revealed that the flagship will offer three levels of screen refresh rates — 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz. The images suggest that the handset will utilise the notch-free design thick bezels at the bottom and top. Just like its predecessor, the ROG Phone 2 could also come with a design featuring some sort of cooling system to keep the heat down while offering intense gaming performance.
ASUS is all set to launch the ROG Phone 2 at an event in China on July 23rd in collaboration with PUBG game maker Tencent. Pricing and availability details of the handset are not available at the moment.
