ASUS ZenFone 2 launching in India in three variants on April 23rd

After teasing the launch of the ZenFone 2 in India for the last couple of weeks, ASUS has finally revealed its release date for the country. The phone will be launched at a press event on April 23rd in New Delhi. The brand has also announced that three variants of the Zenfone 2 will reach Indian shores, thought it hasn’t specified these models yet.

Originally unveiled at this year’s CES in January, the ASUS ZenFone 2 (first impressions) is the world’s first smartphone to boast 4GB of RAM. Since the CES unveiling, the brand has announced several variants of the smartphone. The three models that are expected to land in India include the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, ZenFone 2 ZE550ML, and the ZenFone 2 ZE500CL.

The ZenFone 2 ZE551ML is the top-end variant with a 5.5-inch full HD display, a 64-bit 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 13MP/5MP cameras, 4G LTE, and a 3,000mAh battery. The ZenFone 2 ZE550ML is a toned-down variant of the ZE551ML with 2GB of RAM and a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel A3560 processor. The ZenFone 2 ZE500CL on the other hand, comes with a 5-inch HD display, a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 8MP/2MP cameras, and a 2,500mAh battery.

The company recently launched the ASUS ZenFone 2 series in Taiwan. In the brand’s home market, the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, ZE550ML, and the ZE500CL are being offered at a starting price of around Rs 18,000, Rs 12,000, and Rs 10,000 respectively. Looking at the popularity of ASUS ZenFone devices in India, the vendor is expected to price the ZenFone 2 series aggressively in the country.
