The smartphones that landed in here include the ZenFone 3 (first impressions), ZenFone 3 Deluxe (first impressions), ZenFone 3 Ultra (first impressions) and ZenFone 3 Laser (first impressions), all covering various price points and bringing different features to the table. The ZenFone 3 is a mid-level offering, and comes in as a big upgrade to the ZenFone 2 (review), both in terms of design and specifications. In true ASUS fashion, the ZenFone 3 has been launched in multiple variants. As of now, there are only two models of the device – one with a 5.5-inch display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery, and the other with a 5.2-inch display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 2,600mAh battery. Just to point out – we have the latter for review. The other specifications remain common – full HD resolution, a 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 16MP/8MP cameras and Android Marshmallow with the latest version of ZenUI on top.

What’s new in the ZenFone 3’s design compared to the ZenFone 2?
ASUS has made big changes to the design of the ZenFone 3. Unlike the ZenFone 2, which featured a removable back panel and plastic body, the ZenFone 3 is a unibody smartphone with a metal frame and glass sandwich design. The smartphone features polished chamfers and rounded edges, and gets ASUS’ signature concentric circle design at the rear. Both the front and the rear feature 2.5D glass that dips towards the frame, adding a stylish factor to the design.

Does the ASUS ZenFone 3 come with Gorilla Glass protection?
The ZenFone 3 is a hybrid dual-SIM device, which means that one of the SIM card slots doubles up as a microSD card slot. It accepts one micro-SIM and one nano-SIM.
Does the ZenFone 3 support dual-SIM?
Yes, VoLTE is supported on the ZenFone 3, so you can use a Reliance Jio SIM card with it. The other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and USB Type-C. NFC isn’t available unfortunately.

How much storage do I get on the ZenFone 3?
Like we mentioned earlier, the ZenFone 3 comes in 32GB and 64GB storage options. On the former, you get about 23.5GB to use out of the box. The storage on both variants is expandable up to 2TB, and you also get 100GB of free Google Drive storage for two years with the phone.

The ZenFone 3 features a fingerprint sensor at the rear. Additionally, you can tap and hold the fingerprint sensor to answer an incoming call, double tap it when the phone is unlocked to open the camera, and tap on the sesnor when the camera is open to take a photo.
What is the battery capacity on the ZenFone 3? Does it support quick charge?The ASUS ZenFone 3 features a 2,600mAh battery (3,000mAh on the 5.5-inch variant). Unfortunately, the device doesn’t support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge tech, but ASUS says that the smartphone supports fast charging through the 5v/2A charger.
