“The ASUS ZenFone 6 might come with a very interesting positioning of the display notch”
ASUS has already started working on the next-generation of ZenFone series – ZenFone 6. Recently, as many as three prototypes of the ASUS ZenFone 6 were spotted online with different notch styles. Now, one of these prototypes has emerged again in live images and a hands-on video.
Unlike the previous prototypes, which were all dummy units, the latest prototypes is a working unit. This makes it more likely to be the finally production unit. In the new images, we can see that the display notch will be waterdrop-shaped, however, instead of being in the centre it will be pushed to the top right corner. The earpiece is now nestled between the bezel and metal frame on the top. The prototype seems to be flaunting a glass-sandwich design and dual rear cameras in the centre of back panel. The physical buttons and speaker, USB Type-C port with audio jack are located on the right and bottom edge, respectively.
For security, there is a U-shaped fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. However, the hands-on video reveals that the phone will also come with face unlock. We can see the message, ‘Use fingerprint, face or swipe up to unlock,’ on the lock screen at one point in the video. Unfortunately, there is nothing else known about the specifications and features of the upcoming smartphone. Though, we can expect the ZenFone 6 to come with more or less the same spec sheet as the ASUS ZenFone 5Z. We suggest taking this bit of information with a pinch of salt.
ASUS is expected to announce the upcoming smartphone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2019. It will be safe to assume that the smartphone will hit the market somewhere in Q2 2019.
