ASUS ZenFone 8 series is set to launch globally on Wednesday and will succeed the ZenFone 7 series. The lineup is expected to include at least two models – ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip. In an exclusive leak, 91mobiles had revealed the ZenFone 8 series renders and key specifications. On Monday, we also revealed the ZenFone 8 prices for the European market, leaving nothing to the imagination. While the ZenFone 8 series is confirmed to launch in India, it has been delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis. ASUS ZenFone 8 series launch date
ASUS ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip global launch date is May 12th at 7 PM CEST (10:30 PM IST). However, the India launch date remains a mystery, for now. The global launch event will be live-streamed on the official ASUS YouTube channel, which we have embedded below.
ASUS ZenFone 8 price
ASUS Zenfone 8 series price was revealed by 91mobiles on Monday. According to our source, the smartphone will be priced from EUR 700 (approx. Rs 62,500) for the 8GB+128GB variant. The 8GB+256GB variant will be priced at EUR 750 (approx. Rs 67,000), while the 16GB+256GB option will cost EUR 800 (approx. Rs 71,500).
ASUS ZenFone 8 specifications
ASUS ZenFone 8 is said to sport a compact 5.9-inch FHD+ E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus, and an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. It is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G SoC paired with Adreno 660 GPU, up to 16GB RAM, and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage that may be expandable. It is expected to run Android 11-based ZenUI 8 custom skin on top. Connectivity features could include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
Moving to cameras, the ZenFone 8 is said to feature a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor and a 12-megapixel wide-angle unit with a Macro. The phone is said to get a 12MP front camera for selfies and video chats. The phone is tipped to be equipped with dual speakers and a linear vibration motor. The phone packs a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast-charging support. It measures 148 x 68.5 x 8.9mm and weighs 169 grams.
ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip specifications
ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip is said to sport a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with at least 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It is likely to boot Android 11-based ZenUI custom skin on top. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip will have a motorised camera module with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP macro lens. The ZenFone 8 Flip is said to measure 165×77.3×9.5mm and weighs 230 grams.
