ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 gets EIS support to cameras, live wallpapers, and more via software update

ASUS has started rolling out a new software update to the 3GB and 4GB RAM variants of ZenFone Max Pro M1 (review) smartphone. The update is comes with support for Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS), a feature that has already been rolled out for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 6GB RAM option. This feature allows users to shoot images with less distortion and minimises blurring and compensates for device shake while clicking photos.

Apart from this, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 gets support for Live Wallpapers with the update, the company said in an official statement. A screenshot shared by TheAndroidSoul shows the update also brings fixes for FM radio and Wi-Fi compatibility issues for the handset, and improves ringtone issue while answering calls on Bluetooth. ASUS has said that the update will be rolled out in batches.

The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is ASUS’s mid-range smartphone that was announced earlier this year. The dual-SIM phone runs stock-Android Oreo out of the box. The handset sports a 6-inch full HD+ display bearing an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a 2.5D curved glass on top. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset mated with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB native storage. The latter can be further boosted up to 2TB using a microSD card. For imaging, the phone boasts of dual 16MP + 5MP sensors on the rear and a 16MP shooter on the front.

For security, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The phone also offers a 5-magnet speaker with NXP Smart Amplifier and Max-Box Passive Amplifier accessory for 2X audio amplification. A 5,000mAh battery rounds up the specs sheet of the handset.

As for the price, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1’s top-end 6GB RAM model will cost Rs 14,999, while the 3GB and 4GB RAM options will set you back to Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. The handset is available in two shades –  black and grey.
