Taiwanese phonemaker ASUS has taken the wraps off the ZenFone Max Pro M2 and ZenFone Max M2 smartphones in India today. Both the offerings come with a notch-toting display, run stock Android Oreo, and house beefy batteries. The handsets respectively take over from the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and ZenFone Max M1 models that were launched earlier this year in the country. Both the smartphones will get Android Pie update in January 2019 as will the ZenFone 5Z; buyers of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 will have to wait till February for a taste of Pie.
ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and ZenFone Max M2 price, availability
The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 price in India is set at Rs 12,999 for the entry-level 3GB + 32GB variant. The mid-end 4GB + 64GB model costs Rs 14,999, while the top-end 6GB + 64GB option will set you back by Rs 16,999. The ZenFone Max M2, on the other hand, has only two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB – that have been priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999, respectively.
The handsets will be available exclusively via Flipkart in India; the ZenFone Max Pro M2 first sale is on December 18th, while the ZenFone Max M2 will become available from December 20th. Buyers will get 100GB of free Google Drive storage and no-cost EMIs; other launch offers have been teased but details are still awaited.
ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and ZenFone Max M2 specifications
On the specifications front, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is slightly better equipped than the ZenFone Max M2. The former sports a 6.26-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a Full HD+ (1,080 x 2,280p) resolution. The handset has Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform ticking at its core with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 2TB via dedicated microSD card slot. An impressive 5,000mAh battery keeps the show running.
In the camera department, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 sports a combination of 12-megapixel IMX486 f/1.8 sensor + 5-megapixel depth sensor on the rear with LED flash, EIS, and 4K video recording. For selfies, it gets a 13-megapixel shooter with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture lens.
Coming to the ZenFone Max M2, it flaunts the same display size, which is 6.26-inch, but bears HD+ resolution (720 x 1,440p). The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest budget Snapdragon 632 chipset, paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB onboard storage. For photography, it sports a dual 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors on the rear and an 8-megapixel sensor up front, with LED flash and EIS on both. A 4,000mAh battery fuels the device.
Apart from this, both the ASUS offerings run stock Android Oreo out of the box and employ a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature for security. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ GLONASS.
