“The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 update also brings improvements to front camera, touch, and the status bar”
ASUS is currently seeding a new software update for its latest mid-range budget smartphone, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 (review). The update is available as a FOTA and users will be notified of it when it’s available for download. This is the third update that the ZenFone Max Pro M2 has received since its launch in the country. The first two updates brought several optimisations and improvements to the camera, battery life, and security.
The new FOTA update carries the version number 15.2016.1902.192 and is around 1.9GB in size. ASUS states that the update is being rolled out in batches, which means that it could take a while for it to reach all users. Make sure that your phone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and has more than 50 percent battery before you download the update.
As per the official changelog, the update will improve the touch response on the phone. A upgraded touch firmware is included in the update. Alongside that, the front camera will also see improvements. The display in status bar has also received some enhancements. Finally, the latest update installs the February Android security patch, even though we are in March now.
The ZenFone Max Pro M2 runs stock Android, so we expected it to get security updates faster, but that’s clearly not the case. If this remains the same going forward, the March security update might just arrive in April. Still, it’s better than other budget offerings that don’t receive any updates for months.
The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is currently available on Flipkart at a starting price of Rs 9,999. The phone comes with a powerful Snapdragon 660 processor and a massive 5,000mAh battery. It features a 6.26-inch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution and a notch at the top. The device comes with a dual-rear camera setup (12-megapixel + 5-megapixel) and a 13-megapixel selfie camera. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.
