The Bajaj Scooter premium electric scooter was launched back in January 2020, almost fifteen years after the petrol-powered Bajaj Chetak was shelved. The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter received a lukewarm response from the Indian consumers potentially owing to its high sticker price and likely the availability of the scooter across dealerships. Bajaj Auto seems to be remedying the situation by increasing the presence of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter across the country with a current reach standing at twenty cities.

Bajaj Chetak now available in more Indian cities

The Bajaj Chetak premium electric scooter caters to a growing chunk of the population and the availability of the automobile plays an important role in the success of the product. Bajaj Auto has realized and moved ahead with the introduction of twelve new cities onto the list. This essentially doubles the presence of the electric scooter across the country and makes it easier for consumers to get to one. The new cities that have been added are – Coimbatore, Madurai, Kochi, Kozhikode, Hubli, Visakhapatnam, Nashik, Vasai, Surat, Delhi, Mumbai, and Mapusa.

The addition of new cities onto the list will almost certainly bring a boost to the sales of the Bajaj Chetak. The scooter currently holds a waiting period of four-eight weeks with online bookings (via Bajaj’s website) and offline dealership bookings. With availability extending onto twelve new cities in 2022, a slight bump in waiting periods can be expected too.

Bajaj Auto has also flushed in a new Rs 300 crore that will be routed to ramp up production. All the executions will definitely come in handy in the near future when Bajaj Auto diversifies its portfolio with the addition of a low-cost model positioned below the Bajaj Chetak.
