The Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) anti-cheat team has identified and banned over 71,000 accounts for cheating. The developer has been consistently banning accounts for cheating, with more than 25 lakh accounts banned so far. Similar to many online multiplayer games out there, Krafton is implementing an evolving approach to combat cheating in BGMI by identifying unauthorised third-party programs and banning accounts that use them. Along with these, the BGMI anti-cheat team reviews players reported for cheating to determine whether a permanent ban is warranted.

In its official post, Krafton has said, “71,116 accounts were permanently banned from Dec 27 to Jan 2.” The developer added, “Battlegrounds Mobile India will strive to implement strong sanctions with the ultimate goal of eradicating the use of illegal programs in order to provide you a pleasant gaming environment.”

Over 71,000 accounts were banned in just a week for cheating and these accounts have most likely received hardware bans. Krafton has also shared the list of accounts that were banned between December 27th, 2021, to January 2nd, 2022.

Krafton had recently announced that cheaters in BGMI will receive permanent hardware bans. The developer has begun taking extreme measures to deter cheating as players who were previously banned could create new accounts. This creates an endless loop of Krafton banning cheaters and the said cheaters coming back with new accounts. Device bans would most likely help in reducing the instances of cheating in BGMI.

This isn’t an entirely new approach as PC games like Valorant issue hardware bans using Vanguard anti-cheat software. As several accounts get devices banned permanently for cheating in BGMI, the game is expected to significantly reduce cheating.
