1. 83

Released in 2021, 83 is an experience in itself for older cricket fans. Based on the Indian cricket team’s historic debut victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup, held in England, the movie takes you through the journey of how Kapil Dev and his team, some of the least favourites in the tournament, actually made it to the final and brought home the trophy. Little did they know, they would create history in India and encourage future generations to pick up the gentleman’s sport as a career. 2. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a 2013 sports biopic superhit that follows the life story of Milkha Singh, one of India’s first and only track and field medalists. Known as “The Flying Sikh,” for his fast pace, Milkha Singh was a legendary Indian athlete and a four-time Asian Games gold medalist. It takes us through the legend’s childhood during the India-Pakistan partition, his love life during his teenage and youth years, his distractions, and his eventual hard work and talent that led him to win India its first-ever podium finish in track and field at Asian Games. It also reveals how Milkha Singh came 4th, by a split second, at the 1960 Rome Olympics.
