“The Black Shark 2 is expected to flaunt a slightly refreshed design than its predecessor”
Ahead of an official unveiling, we’ve already seen a number of leaks and reports regarding Xiaomi’s upcoming gaming smartphone, allegedly called the Black Shark 2. Now, the company has gone ahead and announced that it will be introducing the flagship at an event in China on October 23rd. The brand has published the unveiling date and teaser for the Black Shark 2 on its account on the social networking website Weibo.
The poster hasn’t revealed anything regarding the features or design of the Black Shark 2. However, the phone was recently spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA’s website with specs and images. If the photos from the certificate are to be believed, the Black Shark 2 could sport a slightly different design than its predecessor. While the Black Shark (first impressions) has a horizontally-stacked dual camera setup and a front-mounted fingerprint sensor, its successor is said to sport a vertically-aligned primary camera setup and a rear-located fingerprint scanner.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 could sport a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, aided by 6GB or 8GB of RAM, depending on the variant. The phone is rumoured to be available with up to 512GB of storage and boot the latest Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI ROM. The reports suggest that the handset could be fuelled by a massive 4,000mAh battery, which is expected to support fast charging.
At the moment, there’s no word regarding the pricing and availability of the Black Shark 2. However, we can expect the phone to be priced higher than its predecessor.
