Although the Black Shark 2 Pro was announced back in July, the top-end model – 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, has only been made available today on Xiaomi Mall and Jingdong (JD.com) for presale at a price of 3,999 yuan ($565). The first sale, which started on August 2nd, had two variants – 12GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model of the Black Shark 2 Pro respectively priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$434) and 3,499 Yuan (~$507). There are two colour options for the gaming handset, Electric Black and Ice Ash. The Black Shark 2 Pro is a souped-up version of the Black Shark 2 and is currently only limited to China.
The new model with 512GB of RAM appeared on TENAA recently with the model number DLT-A0. Also, the Black Shark 2 Pro has a crazy high score on AnTuTu, breaking the 500,000 barrier and flexing its new Snapdragon 855+ chip. Recapping the specifications, the Black Shark 2 Pro features a 6.39-inch Samsung AMOLED display with traditional bezels that are rare to see these days. Underneath the chassis, there’s a 4,000mAh battery that is equipped with 27W fast charge, not to mention more RGB lights. Also, it has a true DC dimming technology with a dedicated chip for it.
The Black Shark 2 Pro also uses UFS 3.0 equipped with a Snapdragon 855+, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a touch response speed of 34.7ms. The gaming device also combines liquid cooling with a cooling plate to keep the CPU performance at an optimum level while gaming. In terms of cameras, the Black Shark 2 Pro uses a dual setup on the rear with a 48MP primary shooter and a 12MP secondary sensor while the front houses a 20MP selfie shooter. The handset also has some other paint coats which we haven’t seen yet.
