“Black Shark 2 Pro specifications revealed by Geekbench include 12GB RAM, an octa-core Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, and Android 9.0 Pie”
While we already know the launch date for the Xiaomi backed Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone, we don’t really have much idea about its specifications. There have been rumours that the phone will feature the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, but that’s about it. It is highly possible that the rest of the hardware will be the same as the Black Shark 2. Now, a new Black Shark smartphone has appeared on Geekbench, revealing some key details.
The listing for the unknown Black Shark device shows that it is running 12GB of RAM and Android 9.0 Pie. The phone is powered by an Octa-core chipset carrying the codename ‘msmnile’, which is used by both the Snapdragon 855 and the newly announced Snapdragon 855+. The device also has the model number blackshark DLT-A0. Apart from that, the listing doesn’t reveal any other details about this phone. Since the launch is only about 10 days away, the phone could appear in more listings.
Black Shark 2 Pro scored 3,632 points in the single core test, and 11,304 points in the multi-core test. Apart from improved performance, we don’t expect any other changes with the new phone. It should feature a similar dual-rear camera setup and perhaps a 90Hz display. We can expect the Black Shark 2 Pro to come with other improvements as well.
The Black Shark 2 Pro would be the second smartphone to use the new Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. The first phone to use the chipset is the ASUS ROG Phone II, which is expected to be launched on July 23. After the ASUS ROG Phone II and the Black Shark 2 Pro, an upcoming variant of the Nubia Red Magic 3 will also use the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. Even Realme has confirmed that it would be launching a phone powered by the same processor. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855+ is an overclocked 855, which provides about 4.2 percent performance boost in CPU and 15 percent gain in gaming.
