BlackBerry has launched its latest smartphone dubbed the KEY2 in the Indian market. The successor to the BlackBerry KEYone(review), the handset also comes with a physical keyboard. Just like its predecessor, the KEY2 has been released in India by Optiemus Infracom, the licensing partner of BlackBerry in the country.

Coming to the specs, the BlackBerry KEY2 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display bearing an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a resolution of 1,620 x 1,080 pixels, with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The handset is powered by an octa-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, aided by 6GB of RAM and an Adreno 512 GPU. The phone ships with 64GB storage, with support for microSD cards up to 256GB in size for further memory expansion.

The BlackBerry KEY2 flaunts two 12-megapixel cameras at the rear, accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash, 4K recording at 60fps, and phase detection autofocus. For selfies, there’s an 8-megapixel shooter on the front with screen flash and full HD video recording support at 30fps. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS. A 3,500mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging tech keeps the handset running.

Software-wise, the BlackBerry KEY2 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with BlackBerry Launcher on top and proprietary features like BlackBerry Hub and more. The phone gets a new “Speed” key on its touch-enabled QWERTY keyboard. This key allows shortcut access to a handful of applications and features of the device. As per the brand, the Speed key can be pressed with any of 52 shortcuts to instantly access your frequently used apps. For security, there’s a fingerprint sensor on board, which is embedded into the spacebar on the keyboard.

As for the pricing, the BlackBerry KEY2 has been priced at Rs 42,990, and will be available to buy from Amazon.in starting July 31st. As part of the launch offer, Reliance Jio users can enjoy cashback of up to Rs 4,450 along with 5 percent cashback on using ICICI Bank credit or debit cards.
