“The EOS R features a 30.3-megapixel sensor and offers DIGIC 8 image processor”
One of the leading names in the imaging industry, Canon has ventured into the full-frame mirrorless camera segment today. Dubbed the EOS R, the shooter boasts features like advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF, DIGIC 8 imaging processor and RF lens mount. Apart from the camera, the Japanese giant has also announced a number of lenses — four RF lenses, two super-telephoto EF lenses, one prime EF-M lens, along with four types of RF mount adapters.
The Canon EOS R flaunts an all-new 54mm diameter RF lens mount with short back-focus of 20mm and 12-pin contact points. The 12-pin contact is designed for enhancing the communication between the lens and the body. The 35mm full frame CMOS sensor on the camera flaunts a resolution of 30.3-megapixels and has an ISO sensitivity range of 100-40,000, which is ideal for low-light imaging. Further, the camera has been equipped with the latest DIGIC 8 image processor, which is designed to process images optimally to deliver crisp and highly detailed pictures. There’s also support for a Dual Sensing IS, which reduces the camera shake to a great extent and produce well-focused images.
Moving on, Canon claims that the EOS R has the fastest focus speed in the world of 0.05, which has been made possible through Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus. There’s a 3.69-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, which is customisable. The camera also lets users set focus by just touching and dragging on the viewfinder. Apart from this, the DSLR gets a customisable multifunction bar, control ring on RF lenses and sub-electronic trapezoidal dial on top to let users control settings without taking their eyes off the viewfinder. Other details of the Canon EOS R include a magnesium alloy body, Ultra High Definition 4K video recording, high-density AF point positions and flexible AE mode.
Canon is offering the latest EOS R in two options – Body only and full kit option which comes with RF24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens. While the former will set you back by Rs 1,89,950, the latter retails for Rs 2,78,945. Canon has announced that the EOS R will go on sale in India starting mid-October 2018.
