Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7 launched at Unpacked earlier this week. It’s the latest lineup of smartwatches from Samsung and it’s best yet. The new Samsung watches come with upgraded hardware, features, and bigger sizes too. One feature that is missing from the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7 is the Wireless PowerShare.
Galaxy Watch Ultra, Watch 7 doesn’t have this key feature
- Samsung has removed Wireless PowerShare from the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7. What this feature essentially does is let you charge the smartwatch from a compatible smartphone. So you could use your Samsung phone to charge the Galaxy Watch by placing it on its back. This can be a very useful feature in certain situations.
- The reason behind this is said to be the new BioActive sensor on the new Galaxy Watches. First spotted by GSMArena, the new Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra feature a new rear sensor design to improve sensor accuracy over previous models.
- This sensor enables the smartwatch to take asses health-related data points and take more reliable measurements during prolonged or specialised exercises. This wasn’t possible with the previous models.
- To include this new BioActive sensor, Samsung had to change the shape of the back glass.
- “The alteration increased the distance between the internal wireless charging coil of your Watch and the wireless charger, so the Wireless powersharing feature available on the previous model is no longer supported,” Samsung said on its support page.
