Now, the company has announced the global launch date for ColorOS 12. The global launch event of ColorOS 12 will take place on October 11th at 9 AM GMT (2:30 PM IST). The ColorOS 12 is said to bring a new design with improved security and privacy features.

OPPO’s ColorOS 12 is based on Android 12. Google also recently announced the AOSP build of Android 12. The global version of ColorOS 12 is expected to be slightly different from the one announced in China. Last month, OnePlus ditched HydrogenOS in favour of ColorOS in China. Moving forward, OnePlus and OPPO smartphones in China will run a unified version of ColorOS. The OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, OPPO Find X3, and OPPO Find X3 Pro started receiving ColorOS 12 open beta in China. Only OPPO devices will receive the ColorOS 12 update globally, and OnePlus devices will run OxygenOS as usual.

ColorOS 12 doesn’t follow Google’s Material You design language. Instead, it gets acrylic icons with more natural shapes. The new iteration of ColorOS intends to improve multitasking. It brings new features, including quick-view cards or widgets, Omoji, Sidebar 2.0, Free-floating window, Sidebar 2.0, Cross-screen interconnection, and Car+. OPPO also claims that the ColorOS 12 reduces RAM usage while increasing the longevity of internal storage. ColorOS 12 also gets Android 12’s new privacy features.

OPPO has also started the open beta trial for ColorOS 12 global variant for OPPO Find X3 Pro in Malaysia and Indonesia. Users can follow the steps mentioned to join the beta testing group. Open Settings > Software Update, then tap on the icon on the top right corner and tap Trial version > Beta Version. Now fill in your details and tap Apply Now. Selected users will start receiving ColorOS 12 beta updates in batches through the OTA update.
