DataWind to launch budget 4G phones with one year free internet browsing before Diwali

DataWind is planning to launch its 4G smartphone range in India, starting at a budget price tag of Rs 3,000 before Diwali next month, PTI reports. The brand has plans to launch three 4G-enabled smartphones in the country, which will be priced below Rs 5,000. The company will also be bundling its 4G phones with one year of free internet browsing.

The upcoming DataWind smartphones will offer 1GB, 2GB and 3GB of RAM with internal storage of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. These phones will be manufactured at the company’s plants in Amritsar and Hyderabad, which will allow the brand to price them competitively. DataWind has also applied for license under the mobile virtual network operator (MNVO) policy to offer data plans at Rs 99 with unlimited browsing.

DataWind recently marked its debut in India’s 4G tablet market with the launch of the MoreGmax 4G7 slate. Priced at Rs 5,999, the tablet comes with 4G LTE, voice-calling, a 7-inch display, a quad-core SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 3MP/0.3MP cameras, and Android Lollipop. The MoreGmax also comes bundled with free internet browsing for one-year on the Reliance Communication network.
