What is DD Free Dish?

DD Free Dish is a free-to-air DTH service operated and owned by Public Service Broadcaster Prasar Bharati. The DD in its name stands for Doordarshan which is India’s largest broadcasting organisation that telecasts a host of regional channels all free of cost. Unlike private DTH operators, DD Free Dish doesn’t charge any monthly subscription for the channels it provides to its users. All you have to pay is set-top box and a couple of equipment costs to get the DD Free Dish installed. The DTH service launched with just 33 channels, but now that number is increased to 100+ channels, which are listed below.

How to get DD Free Dish?

The DD Free Dish kit which includes the set-top box, dish antenna, cables and other necessary equipment can be purchased from local electronics markets and even on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart. Do note that Prasar Bharati (operator of Free Dish) does not sell or install the DTH service in households. The whole DD Dish system kit is priced in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 depending upon the manufacturer and model.
