The newly-released iPhone 12 Pro Max is arguably one of the most attractive pieces of tech right now, so it doesn’t come as a surprise hearing that a delivery person ran away with some units. According to a report by MyDrivers, a delivery person in China took off with 14 iPhone 12 Pro Max units worth 160,000 yuan (approx Rs 18 lakh). The units were intended for an Apple authorised reseller in Guizhou, China. After cancelling his job and paying the penalty, the delivery person did not return the iPhone 12 Pro Max smartphones to the store.

Of the 14 iPhone Pro Max units, the delivery person kept one for personal use, a move that ultimately spelt his doom. Another unit was given off to a friend as a form of debt repayment. A third iPhone 12 Pro Max found its way to a pawn shop, where it fetched 9,500 yuan (approx Rs 1,07,000). Another unit was sold off to a mobile phone dealer for a throwaway price of 7,000 yuan (approx Rs 79,000). The iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at around 9,299 yuan (approx Rs 1,05,000) in China.

Authorities eventually managed to track down the delivery person and recover the remaining ten iPhone 12 Pro Max units. The Apple Store has now blacklisted the delivery person, who will very likely also face prison time for his actions. As expected, he stated that he did all this to fund his opulent lifestyle.
