Where do the new Alienware laptops sit?
Dell is positioning the new Alienware lineup firmly at the premium end of the gaming market. The Alienware 16X Aurora, at Rs 2,62,990, competes with other high-end 16-inch gaming machines like the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, while the Area-51 16 and 18 push into ultra-premium territory at just under Rs 4 lakh.
Compared with last year’s models, the new pricing is a lot higher. The earlier Alienware 16X Aurora started around Rs 1.80 lakh, while previous Area-51 variants sat in the roughly Rs 3.1 lakh to Rs 4.8 lakh range depending on configuration.
The jump is nearly 40 percent here and while the performance uplift is significant, the pricing will be a tough pill for many buyers to swallow, especially at a time when memory shortages and component inflation are pushing laptop costs higher across the board.
Top-end gaming machines, in particular are facing the brunt of it since they rely on large amounts of fast RAM, storage and high-power GPUs.
