According to various user reports, Disney+ Hotstar has begun testing two new mobile plans in India aimed at attracting new consumers by delivering access to over-the-top (OTT) entertainment for as little as Rs 49 per month. The reports further add that the new plans are confined to a few payment options only. For mobile users, Disney+ Hotstar provides yearly subscriptions starting at Rs 499 per year. The streaming portal also offers Rs 899 Super plan and the Rs 1,499 Premium plan. The OTT giant earlier this year dropped its Rs 399 yearly VIP membership and now allows all customers access to all content.
Disney+ Hotstar new introductory plans
Disney Plus Hotstar is seemingly offering two new plans to select customers. These plans are accessible to customers on a monthly as well as on a semi-annual basis. This means that eligible consumers will be able to access all content on their mobile phones, including live cricket events, for as little as Rs 49 per month. Do note that this plan is on an introductory basis, and its price will eventually increase to Rs 99 per month.
On its customer care page, Disney+ Hotstar Rs 49 mobile plan can be seen for a select number of users. Some Android users who were the first to notice the plan on Disney+ Hotstar posted screenshots of the scheme on Reddit as well. Only Tech was the first to report on the development. If consumers pay with a card, Paytm, PhonePe, or UPI, Disney+ Hotstar is purportedly offering the Rs 99 mobile plan for Rs 49.
According to TelecomTalk, Disney+ Hotstar is also experimenting with a new Rs 199 package as well. This package, too, is on an introductory basis and will cost Rs 299 in the future. The subscription has a six-month validity period and allows you 720p streaming with advertisements during sports and movies.
For other users, there are already several Disney+ Hotstar plans available. There are available at Rs 499, Rs 899, and Rs 1,499. The Rs 499 plan is for a single device streaming only, while the Rs 899 and Rs 1499 plans are for those who wish to view content on several devices, such as their TV, smartphone, or laptop. For consumers who don’t want to see advertising in between sports and movies, the Premium package is the best option as it promises ad-free content for all of its subscribers.
