  • The website lists Redmi, POCO and MI smartphones, Mi TVs and other products
  • Xiaomi has confirmed that the website is fake and buyers should be aware

A fake Xiaomi India website, which claims to be a Mi India Authorised store has been spotted online. The mi-home.in website seems to be nothing more than a copycat site, aimed at luring unsuspecting buyers in order to take their money. The website lists Redmi, POCO and Mi phones along with discounted prices to make them all the more attractive. Phones like the Redmi Note 9 Pro, POCO X2 and Mi A3, among others, have been listed on the site. In addition to smartphones, the website has also listed Mi TVs and ecosystem products, which only seems to have the Mi Band 3. Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed that the website is a fake and that Mi.com is the only official website from the brand.

The fake website was spotted by XDA-Developer writer Tushar Mehta who tweeted about the apparent incoherence of the site’s UI. Xiaomi India category head Raghuram Reddy replied to the tweet, acknowledging that the website is fake. Xiaomi’s Manu Kumar Jain also tweeted saying, “Yes! mi-home.in is a fake website that is trying to fool consumers by taking money.” Xiaomi is reporting the website to the Cyber Crime division in India and the company plans to take legal action.

Unauthorised websites like mi-home.in try to attract customers by making the UI look seemingly official. The site puts has put up official Xiaomi posters and banners (obviously without seeking permission) and even calls itself a Mi India Authorised Store. It is highly possible that the website will steal your money if you buy any one of the listed products. Buyers should know that Mi.com is the only official website from the company for purchasing Redmi and Mi phones in India. Meanwhile, POCO has its own website, Poco.in, where you can buy the POCO X2. Other online partners are Amazon India, Flipkart and a few more trusted e-commerce platforms.
