“The Meizu 16Xs is the only scheduled launch on May 30”
Qualcomm has revealed a number of new mobile processors in the 6xx series recently. This includes the Snapdragon 675, Snapdragon 670, and the Snapdragon 665 SoC. The first of the lot is the one we’ve seen a lot, in smartphones like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Vivo V15 Pro, and a few others. Now, it seems we will soon see the first-ever handset with the Snapdragon 665, according to a tipster on Twitter. There was no information shared about the actual identity of the handset and brand. He did, however, say that the handset is launching on May 30. Based on that, we can make a good guess.
The only launch, in our knowledge, on May 30 is the Meizu 16Xs which means that the handset might feature a Snapdragon 665 SoC. Previously leaked information has been hinting at a Snapdragon 710 SoC. If the tipster is correct, then this wouldn’t be much of an upgrade, in fact, it would be a downgrade from the Meizu 16X, which boasts of a Snapdragon 710 CPU. The Snapdragon 665 is based on the 11nm node and has Kryo 260 cores, both of which are underwhelming compared to the 10nm node and the Kryo 360 cores on the 710 SoC. It’s unknown why Meizu would choose this chipset over others but we should find out soon enough.
As for other features, the Meizu 16Xs will also be the brand’s first triple camera handset, as per images from TENAA. Apart from the processor, there are a host of upgrades on the handset that might pit it against the Redmi Note 7 in China. The handset is expected to have a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution. The phone has also been tipped to feature a much bigger 4,000mAh battery, and the triple camera setup might include a 48MP Sony sensor, along with two other sensors.
