
Flipkart has started imposing a new ‘Protect Promise’ fee. The popular e-commerce platform already levies platform fee, handling fee and secure packaging fee based on the type of ordered item. Flipkart notes Protect Promise fee is applicable on select products and includes secure packaging and open-box verification.
Flipkart Protect Promise fee
- As per Flipkart, the Protect Promise fee is to ensure the device’s safety as it travels through multiple hubs in the process of reaching to customer.
- Through this, customers will also get the already-existing open box delivery, where the delivery agent will open the package at the time of delivery for you to check for damages or any missing items.
- The Flipkart Protect Promise fee is applicable on select products like earphones, mid-range tablets, home appliances (AC, refrigerators, smart TVs, etc), smartwatches and others.
- Flipkart seems to be charging Rs 49 for large-sized home appliances and premium products, Rs 29 fee for products like soundbars and other similar range items, Rs 19 for mid-range categories like tablets, printers, etc and Rs 9 Fee for audio products, smartwatches and other budget products.
- For certain products like tablets, soundbars and other electronics, Flipkart is imposing Rs 49 offer handling fee in addition to the Protect Promise fee.
- For smartphones, Flipkart is continuing to charge Rs 49 as offer handling fee and Rs 59 as packaging charges. For laptops possibly purchased during discounts, there is a Rs 49 offer handling fee.
- For products/product categories where there’s no Protect Promise fee, Flipkart levies a Rs 3 platform fee, which according to it is dedicated to keeping the platform running smoothly and improving the app experience.
