Galaxy Note 21 series: Samsung reportedly not killing Note line just yet

Highlights
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 21 series is now tipped to be in the works
  • This comes amidst rumours of Samsung ending the Galaxy Note series
  • Samsung confirmed it will bring stylus support to more phones

Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, TM Roh, earlier today had confirmed the company’s plans to bring stylus support to more phones. This once again fuelled speculations that the Galaxy Note series may be coming to an end, as reported on numerous occasions in recent times. However, it looks like Samsung is silently working on the Galaxy Note 21 series considering the next Galaxy S flagship is tipped to be called the Galaxy S21  as reported by Yonhap, citing an anonymous Samsung official. “Samsung is preparing to release the Galaxy Note series next year and that Roh’s message does not mean that the Galaxy Note series will be discontinued,” said the source.

While Samsung has declined to comment on the report, a spokesperson has told The Verge, “Samsung confirms plans to bring some of the most beloved features of the Galaxy Note to more device categories in 2021. We remain committed to providing the best mobile experience to our consumers and will continue to actively listen and consider consumer feedback in all our product innovations. We cannot share any further details at this time.”

If Yohap’s report is indeed true, it remains to be seen how Samsung will set the Galaxy Note 21 series apart from other flagship models, including the Galaxy S21 series. The question arises especially considering there’s not much difference between the Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup and Note 20 series barring the S pen and form factor.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was a better proposition thanks to its affordable pricing tag. Considering Samsung has confirmed it will add S Pen support to more phones, probably the upcoming Galaxy S21 series, and bring affordable foldable phones, there’s very little that the Galaxy Note lineup can bring to the table. Samsung Galaxy S21 series is expected to debut on January 14th, which is when we should what the South Korean giant has in store for us.
