“Gionee has sent out invites for an MWC event on March 2nd, where it will launch the Elife S7”
Several new devices are expected to see the light of day at this year’s MWC show in Barcelona. The latest one to join the league is Gionee. The brand has sent out invites for an event taking place on March 2nd, where it will unveil the Gionee Elife S7 smartphone. The press invite officially confirms the Elife S7 launch at Theatre D in Hall 8, Fira Gran Via, Barcelona.

Going by the previous reports and the way Gionee names its devices, the Elife S7 will measure 7mm around the waist. The company’s Elife S5.1 (review) once held the crown of the slimmest smartphone in the world, but apparently the brand is not participating in the race of slimmest devices anymore. “The race to make the slimmest smartphone was getting out of hand. Going so slim is actually not benefiting user experience without the performance to back it up,” Gionee’s head of global marketing Oliver Sha recently said to PRNewswire.
Even with a 7mm chassis, the Gionee Elife S7 will be slimmer than most smartphones available in the market. It is expected to arrive either with an HD or full-HD display, a MediaTek processor, and a non-removable battery.
