Google launched its smart connected eyewear with a head-mounted display called Google Glass back in 2013. However, despite being hailed as the next-generation tech, the Google Glass was not received well. The search engine giant then went on to launch Google Glass Enterprise Edition intended for enterprise market last year. Now, it seems that the second-generation of the Enterprise Edition is on its way as the same has been spotted on the website of Geekbench.

The listing on the popular benchmarking website has the device listed as Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2. The benchmarking website reveals that the upcoming wearable tech from the search giant will come with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Powering the performance of the smart glass will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, which is a quad-core SoC mated to 3GB RAM. However, nothing else is known or revealed by the listing of the gadget. Notably, the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 was spotted on the website of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) as well, earlier this month. However, speculations are that Google might not launch it the year and it will come in 2019 instead.

To recap, the first-generation Google Glass Enterprise Edition came with the support for  prescription lenses, and comes with an improved camera and battery life. The camera was upgraded from 5MP to 8MP and there was no red light indicator for video recording, allowing for stealth recording. According to Google, the device was able to reduce machinery production time by 25 percent and inspection times by 30 percent. The search engine giant claimed that the wearable was being used by hundreds of employees from companies like GE, Boeing, DHL and Volkswagon.

While there is no word on the launch date and pricing of the upcoming Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2, it’s being said that it will retain the price tag of its predecessor that’s $1,500 (~Rs 1,06,282).
