Google Pixel 4 may already be in the hands of developers

“The comment indicates that a Pixel 4 prototype might be in the hands of some Google developers”

Google usually debuts its Pixel line in October every year; however, leaks of the Pixel 4 have begun quite early. While this is not a render or specifications leak, the first mention of the “Pixel 4” was found inside the AOSP project today by 9to5Google. The publication mentions that a new comment has been posted to AOSP code change which references the Google Pixel 4 twice. Now, this comment wasn’t by any random user, but was left by a Google employee. Take a look at the comment below.

“The plan was to first deploy this on Pixel 3 and make sure that everything actually works. Then move on to Pixel 4 and so on. If I had a Pixel 4 device, I probably wouldn’t have bothered with 4.9 in the first place.”

This suggests that the Pixel 4 is not only in development but early prototypes could already be with developers to play with. In fact, it wouldn’t be a surprise if we start seeing Pixel 4 in leaked renders considering the Pixel 3 was one of the most leaked devices of 2018. Some high-res concept renders are already doing the rounds across the Internet but this mention on AOSP is as close as we can get to official info.

Based on recent patent documents, the Google Pixel 4 design leaked last month but this tells nothing about the actual design of the series. The latest leak revealed a design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series. A pill-shaped cutout on the front housing a dual camera and a similar dual camera on the back has been rumoured with a full-screen design. It is advised to take this early render with a pinch of salt, but if it turns out to be true it will be a breath of fresh air after the Google Pixel 3 XL’s unsightly notch. We can expect a launch of the Pixel 4 in October.
