The event, which is titled ‘Launch Night In’, will see the launch of Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G smartphones. Both the handsets were first mentioned as “coming soon” by the company at the time of Pixel 4a launch, i.e. in August. At the time, it was mentioned that the two smartphones will launch later this year but no features, design details, etc. were revealed. However, we can expect Google Pixel 5 specifications to include 5G support, punch-hole display, square camera module, display size around 5.7-inch, Snapdragon 765 chipset, OLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate, 3,080mAh battery, etc.
Not as much is known about Pixel 4a 5G except that it will support the next-gen connectivity standard. However, it is rumoured that the device will sport a larger display than Pixel 4a’s 5.81-inch panel, 60Hz refresh rate, and a 12.2MP + 8MP camera setup. Pre-orders for the phones will reportedly start on October 8th – however, Google has already confirmed that Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a won’t be launching in the Indian market.
As for the other two devices that are confirmed for the September 30th Google launch event, we know the design of the upcoming Nest speaker thanks to a certification listing. However, it is not clear what new features it brings to the table. The upcoming Chromecast model is likely the rumoured ‘Sabrina’ dongle, whose recent leak suggested a price tag of $49-59.
