Google has finally addressed this issue and extended a repair program for the Pixel 7a battery swelling issue. Similar to the Pixel 4a battery replacement offer, affected Pixel 7a units can get a one-time battery replacement for free, provided the device passes the eligibility criteria. The company lists symptoms you can check to see if your Pixel 7a is impacted by this issue. This includes:
- A swollen/thicker-than-usual Pixel 7a body
- The back is bulging or separating from the device
- The phone’s battery is draining abnormally fast

Step 2: You’ll have to confirm the Gmail ID you used to register the particular Pixel 7a.
Step 3: Then, you have to enter the IMEI of the device. Google may further ask you a series of questions to verify the issue.
The company mentions that following this online check, your device will also undergo a physical inspection.
Also note, there are some conditions. If your device has liquid damage, exposure to sharp objects, or excessive force, it won’t be eligible for this offer. Similarly, if the device has out-of-warranty damage, like a cracked display or cover glass, you will have to pay a fee. Google will share the estimated cost in advance so that you can decide if you want to get the device repaired or returned.
This repair/replacement doesn’t extend the standard warranty coverage of your Pixel 7a.
