Google Pixel 9a DXOMark display and camera results
Camera
- The DXOMark camera test includes various parameters like video, photo, zoom range, and others.
- The Google Pixel 9a has managed to score around 153 points in the camera department. It has secured a global rank of 33rd. However, it takes the 1st place in the high-end price segment.
- In comparison, the Pixel 9 takes the 10th spot with marginally better 154 points. Huawei Pura 70 Ultra leads the chart with a score of 163.
- DXOMark notes that the handset inherits many top-end features of the Pixel 9, thereby offering a flagship-like performance at a slightly cheaper price.
- The phone has received DXOMark’s ‘Smart Choice Label‘, which is a benchmark that qualifies devices which deliver superior camera performance for their category.
- The camera test finds the Pixel 9a stands out with accurate exposure, solid dynamic range, good colour reproduction and reliable autofocus.
- DXOMark notes that while the phone performed well in zoom quality from ultra-wide to short telephoto, the image quality took a hit at longer telephoto settings due to the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera.
- The video performance is said to be another positive aspect with fast and accurate autofocus, effective stabilisation and good colour reproduction in daylight conditions.
- However, come low-light situations, the camera is said to have struggled with a lack of details, noise, and exposure inconsistencies during motion.
- DXOMark notes that the Pixel 9a doesn’t quite match the Pixel 9 in low-light or challenging video conditions.
Display
- In the display department, the Google Pixel 9a has secured a score of 155, which is claimed to be the highest in its price segment and places it among the top in our global display ranking.
- It has secured 8th position globally. The Galaxy S25 Ultra continues to lead the table with a score of 160.
- The display is said to an “excellent choice” for a wide range of use cases like web browsing, video playback and more.
- DXOMark notes that the readability was solid in most lighting conditions, and the brightness is said to be adapting to various environments.
- The colour rendering is said to be accurate and natural, especially in well-lit conditions. The HDR10 video playback is said to be vibrant and detailed in low-light and indoor conditions.
- Lastly, the display’s responsiveness is noted to be fast and accurate with touch interactions.
