Google launched the Pixel 7 series at its ‘Made By Google 22’ event on Wednesday. At the same stage, the company has also introduced the Pixel Watch as well. This is the first smartwatch from the brand and is being made with deeper integrations with Fitbit to offer leading health and fitness capabilities. The smartwatch runs on WearOS 3.5 and there is 4G LTE connectivity (optional), an emergency SOS feature and much more.

The Pixel Watch comes with a circular 3D domed glass that merges into the body, which is made of stainless steel. This is claimed to give it a sleek appearance. The smartwatch is scratch-resistant and water-resistant up to 50 meters.

The Google Pixel Watch is priced at $349.99 (approx Rs 28,750) for the Bluetooth version and $399.99 (around Rs 32,900) for the LTE version in the US. The smartwatch is available to pre-order and will be available from October 13th. The Watch will also be available in Canada, Denmark, France, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, the UK, and Australia. There is no word from Google on the Pixel Watch’s India launch yet.

The Pixel Watch comes in a Matte Black case with an Obsidian Active band, a Champagne Gold case with a Hazel Active band, a Polished Silver case with a Charcoal Active band and Chalk Active band options.

The Pixel Watch has an AMOLED display with 1000nits peak brightness, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer, an Always-on display, and 19 customisable watch faces. There is a side button above the crown that shows the recently used apps. The Pixel Watch is claimed to deliver accurate heart rate measurement that continuously tracks it at once per second thanks to the on-device machine learning and processor-level deep optimisation. The smartwatch supports 40 different exercise modes. 

The Pixel Watch comes with GPS support and an ECG app for detecting indicators of atrial fibrillation (AFib), understanding sleep patterns with Sleep Score and Sleep Stages, and more. The Smartwatch is compatible with Fitbit’s app, which allows you to view crucial indicators such as breathing rate, heart rate variability and more. It has 32GB storage and comes with a 3-month free YouTube Premium subscription. Users can also control smart home devices via the Google Home app.

The Pixel Watch is powered by the Exynos 9110 paired with 2GB RAM, which should offer smooth performance. There is an optical heart rate sensor, compass, altimeter, blood oxygen sensor, multipurpose electrical sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor. There is an ECG app with AFib detection, sleep stages, sleep score, sleep mode and fall detection (coming this winter).

There is a 294mAh battery with up to 24 hours of backup and fast charging support that is claimed to charge up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. Connectivity options include 4G LTE (optional), Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and NFC.

Pixel Tablet

Besides the Pixel Watch, Google has also teased the Pixel Tablet at the same stage. It will arrive with the 2nd generation Tensor chipset, a new charging speaker dock, that promises enhanced audio. When the Pixel Tablet is docked, which acts as a hands-free Assistant or a photo frame. it can also control all smart home devices. The dock has magnets which makes it easy to dock and undock the tablet. The Pixel Tablet is slated to release in 2023.
