While Google’s Pixel foldable phone has mostly been in the spotlight, Vivo and Xiaomi are also working on new foldable smartphones. As per The Elec, all three companies will unveil the new devices in the fourth quarter of 2021. The Google foldable smartphone has been said to feature an in-folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. It’s expected to come with a 7.6-inch internal display made by Samsung Display, which will feature an ultra-thin glass cover also manufactured by Samsung.

More details about the Pixel Fold remains a mystery, but it is possible that Google might announce it after the Pixel 6 series in October. Vivo’s foldable smartphone will supposedly feature an 8-inch internal display, and a 6.5-inch external display. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi foldable smartphone will apparently go for a clamshell foldable design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Xiaomi already has a foldable smartphone in the form of the Mi MIX Fold, which features an in-folding design with an 8-inch internal screen.

The report also goes to state that OPPO is also working on a foldable phone, but the launch has been pushed to 2022. The OPPO foldable phone could also have a clamshell design with a 7.1-inch display on the inside, and a 1.5 – 2.0-inch screen on the outside. Even Samsung will be launching two new foldable smartphones this year, which will most likely be the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold2 and Z Flip.
