GTA 6 will have a Latina protagonist, who will be one of the lead characters in a story inspired by bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde. The developer will try not to punch down by poking fun at marginalised groups, which is much different from previous GTA games that made fun of everyone. GTA 6 is expected to be set in Vice City, which is a fictionalised version of Miami. Rockstar is planning to “continually update the game over time, adding new missions and cities on a regular basis.” With this, the developer hopes to reduce the crunch in the final months of development. Still, GTA 6 will have a large world at launch with much more interior locations than previous games.

Rockstar had originally planned to include large parts of North and South America in GTA 6, which could have made it the biggest GTA map in the series. However, the developer later decided not to go ahead with this plan. GTA 6 is expected to release after two years, which could mean in 2024 or 2025.

Bloomberg has also done a report on how the work culture at Rockstar changed after the staff pushback against a “culture of crunch, bullying, and frat-house antics.” Some managers that were reportedly involved had to be let go, and Rockstar is said to have a much work culture now. The developer had also planned a Cops ‘n’ Crooks mode for GTA Online but decided to halt it following the protests over George Floyd’s death.
