Huawei sub-brand Honor has released a new software update for the Honor 20 high-end smartphone. The new Magic UI 3.0 update is in beta and is available for download in India and other regions worldwide. The update includes several new features and a redesigned user-interface. The company has also taken care of lag issues that were present in the previous update. Apart from the redesigned UI, the Honor 20 Magic UI 3.0 beta update also brings features such as Dark Mode, sense-activated animations, and a horizontal level video shooting mode. Honor will also release the update for other devices such as the Honor 20 Pro and the Honor View 20.
Honor 20 Magic UI 3.0 features
One of the main new features of the Honor 20 Magic UI 3.0 update is the redesigned user interface, which the company says is simpler and easier to use than previous iterations. Honor has added a magazine layout, which improves the reading experience for the users. Users will see bigger title areas, more white spaces, a grid system, and highlights for several UI elements. A new drop-down menu offers primary functions with a single swipe and shows more features with double swipe. Overall, the UI has been improved to make it easier for the user.
Next up, Dark Mode. Magic UI 3.0 gets a Dark Mode, which further improves the user experience when the device is used in the dark. Huawei says it conducted several tests to ensure that the Dark Mode improves reading efficiency under several lighting conditions. There are also sense-activated animations effects for better user experience. This basically means that the phone will provide haptic feedback and animations when performing certain tasks. There’s an elastic spring effect when the user pulls down on menus.
Honor has also added a horizontal level in the camera UI when recording videos. This will allow users to record more stable videos. Finally, there’s a new Deterministic Latency Engine, which is the reason behind a smoother and faster UI. This technology will manage various tasks based on its priority and allocate CPU, GPU, memory, and other resources accordingly, ensuring smooth and fluid performance from all applications.
