“The quad camera-toting phone received a photo score of 117 and video score of 97”
Amidst the ongoing fiasco between the US and Huawei, the smartphone brand’s subsidiary Honor unleashed the flagship Honor 20 series in London yesterday. It is known that the Google services ban will not affect the new series, however, future Honor devices will not be immune to it. On the same day as the launch, DxOMark revealed triple digit scores for the Honor 20 Pro that has a quad-camera setup, putting it on a level with the likes of the top ranking Huawei P30 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro.
As per the camera benchmark, the Honor 20 Pro gets a total of 111 points, making it one of the best camera phones out there. However, what’s more impressive is that the Honor 20 Pro comes very close to the Huawei P30 Pro’s photo score of 119. As you’ll see in the image, the tester gave top marks to the handset for its exposure, autofocus, and flash. The dynamic range is among the best that the team has tested. Furthermore, it’s not very far behind in other areas such as noise control. However, there is a loss of fine detail in intricate areas where things can look a bit smudgy upon close crop, as pointed out in the blog post. Zoom and bokeh were also considered as key strengths of the flagship. In terms of video, the Honor 20 Pro scores a very respectable 97 points. The colour rendering and stabilization is what attracted the reviewers the most. The phone gave out bright and vivid colours in both bright light and typical indoor conditions. Video detail was one area where the Honor 20 Pro can be improved. All in all, the Honor 20 Pro is one of the best camera phones out there and for more details on the test, you can visit DxOMark’s page here.
