Huawei sub-brand Honor has introduced its latest Honor 20 series in India. The lineup includes Honor 20i, Honor 20, and the flagship Honor 20 Pro smartphone. While the Honor 20i is an affordable offering, the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro are the brand’s answer to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones in the premium segment. Both the handsets pack almost similar specifications, which include a quad camera setup at the back, Kirin 980 SoC, a punch-hole display, and a huge battery.
Honor 20 series prices in India
Honor 20 price in India has been set as Rs 32,999 and it will go on sale in the country on June 25th; it will come with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Honor 20 Pro, on the other hand, will cost Rs 39,999 and will be headed to the country “soon,” with no particular date announced; this handset will feature 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. As for the Honor 20i (with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage), the smartphone will go on sale in the country on June 18th, priced at Rs 14,999. Jio users will get 2.2TB complimentary data and cashback worth Rs 2,200 on purchase of the three smartphones. On the Honor 20 and 20 Pro, the company will also be offering 90 percent value if the consumers decides to return the handset within 90 days of purchase.
Honor 20 series specifications
Talking about the specifications, the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro differ on the RAM and storage options, and the battery on offer. Besides this, both the offerings rock 6.26-inch display 1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution and a punch-hole at the top-right corner to house the selfie camera. At their core lies Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 980 7nm chipset with GPU Turbo 3.0 for better performance. The phonemaker ships the Honor 20 smartphone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage and the Pro model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The quad camera setup on Honor 20 Pro features a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor paired with a 16-megapixel super wide-angle lens, 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and 2-megapixel macro lens with laser autofocus. The setup has been rated among the best, with an overall score of 111 (the same as OnePlus 7 Pro), by camera benchmarking site DxOMark. The front camera employs a 32-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. It has a 4,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast-charging support.
As for the Honor 20 rear camera setup, you get four sensors here too. However, the setup on this handset come with 48-megapixel primary sensor, 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, 2-megapixel macro lens, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. Similar to its Pro sibling, this handset features a 32-megapixel selfie camera. On the battery front, buyers will get a 3,750mAh cell with support for up to 22.5W fast-charging.
Apart from this, both phones have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Google Assitant embedded underneath the power button, and Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound system for an enhanced audio experience. The two also feature a new Dynamic Holographic Design, with millions of miniature prisms in gradient finish.
The Honor 20i, meanwhile, is driven by Kirin 710 SoC and sports a 6.21-inch full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) IPS LCD display with dewdrop notch up top. In optics, there is 24-megapixel (f/1.8) + 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor + 2-megapixel snapper on the rear with LED flash and a 32-megapixel snapper with AI integration on the front camera. The cameras are loaded with features such as AI beauty, night scene mode, portrait mode, professional camera, panorama, and more to further enhance the images. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, up to 6GB of RAM, and 256GB storage. A 3,400mAh battery with 10W charging support rounds up the specs sheet of Honor 20i smartphone.
On the software front, all the Honor 20 series smartphones run Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9 out of the box. Honor had confirmed that the handsets won’t be affected by Google’s ban, which will be implemented from August 19th.
