“The Honor 8X is slated to get the latest update in China next week and globally in December”
The Honor 8X (first impression), which launched in India just last month, is already slated to receive the latest Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 in coming days. Notably, the smartphone comes with Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI interface out of the box. The brand has already confirmed that the Honor 8X Android 9.0 Pie beta will be released in China next week and its proprietary EMUI will be updated to version 9.0.
Honor 8X Android Pie update details
According to Honor, the latest EMUI 9 is designed to bring a number of improvements related to performance, bug fixes, and visual changes. Honor has also revealed that the upcoming update will bring Google’s Digital Wellbeing, GPU Turbo and a more streamlined user interface. Further, the India-specific update for the smartphone will bring features like enhanced language support (up to 28 languages), a better-designed local calendar, and most importantly, deeper integration of Paytm with the UI overlay.

To recall, the Honor 8X comes with a 6.5-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a tiny notch that houses the selfie camera. Powering the smartphone is an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC (4 x 2.2GHz + 4 x 1.7GHz) coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage. There is a 20-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 2-megapixel depth-of-field sensor on the rear, and a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies. The handset relies on a 3,750mAh battery for power requirements.
The Honor 8X’s price in India has been set as Rs 14,999 for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variants are priced at Rs 16,999 and Rs 18,999, respectively.
