“The successor to the 7X comes with up to 6GB RAM and a powerful 3,750mAh battery”
The Honor 7X (review) was a good budget-centric offering from Huawei’s sub-brand in India and now the company will be following it up with a successor this month. Aptly dubbed the Honor 8X, the handset was unveiled in China earlier last month along with its bigger sibling, the Honor 8X Max. Now the brand has announced that it will debut the 8X in the subcontinent on October 16th.
Honor is already started the global launch of the 8X, and the phone’s first international market was Dubai and Spain. In the coming days, the device will also be released in Malaysia, Russia, Czech Republic and Bangkok.
In terms of the specifications, the Honor 8X seems like a worthy successor of the Honor 7X. The 8X boasts a 6.5-inch full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The processor is also an upgrade as the handset ships with an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, in comparison to the Kirin 659 chipset powering its predecessor. The processor is paired with up to 6GB of RAM. The cameras are another area of improvement as the rear of the new smartphone houses a 20MP sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor, while the front has a single 16MP shooter. The handset gets a beefy 3,750mAh juice pack, which is also a step up from the 3,340mAh capacity of last year.
The Honor 8X starts at 1,499 RMB (approximately Rs 16,000) in China. While we don’t know the exact pricing and availability details of the phone in India, we can expect it to be priced similarly, and thus, it’ll present a good competition to the likes of the Motorola One Power (review), Nokia 6.1 Plus (review) and Xiaomi Mi A2 (review).
