Honor 9X Lite poster reveals 48-megapixel AI dual camera, phone may launch soon

“Honor 9X Lite is expected to be the least expensive smartphone in the Honor 9X lineup”

Honor is reportedly set to add a new variant to its Honor 9X lineup of mid-range smartphones. The device is called Honor 9X Lite, and as the name suggests it will come with stripped down specifications compared to the Honor 9X. Recently, an Honor 9X poster was leaked online, giving us some details regarding what to expect from the smartphone. The poster only shows the rear of the rumoured Honor 9X Lite, which hosts a physical fingerprint scanner along with a dual rear camera module at the top left of the rear. The main camera of this module is said to be a 48-megapixel sensor, which may be supported by a secondary depth sensor.

The Honor 9X Lite is still largely a mystery. Reports on the internet suggest that the smartphone may run on the Kirin 710 SoC, a slightly dated mid-range Huawei chipset. Honor is currently unable to launch phones with the updated Kirin 810 SoC as the chipset has not been certified outside of China. Going by the overall range of the Honor 9X smartphone range, the upcoming ‘Lite’ variant is expected to be priced towards the budget range — a speculation that is further solidified by the physical fingerprint sensor instead of an under-display one.

The Honor 9X Lite poster shows the smartphone in a shiny aqua green shade, which supposedly confirms at least one colour finish of the smartphone. An isolated report about the smartphone found out that it has also been certified by Google, and is now listed in the database of Google Play certified devices. This suggests that the smartphone may be launched soon in select markets. Furthermore, the Google Play certification lists three variants of the smartphone, with codenames JSN-L21, JSN-L22 and JSN-L23. It is likely that this is indicative of three different RAM and storage variants of the upcoming Honor 9X Lite.

The Google Play certification also means the Honor 9X Lite will come with Google apps and Play Store access. Since the Honor 9X launched in India last month, it seems likely that the Honor 9X Lite will also make its way to the country soon enough.
